Kakao Talk has recently introduced a feature that enables immediate translation in chat rooms, saving users the need to use a separate translation app. The "speech balloon translation" function can translate foreign languages into Korean by pressing and holding the speech bubble and clicking on the "translation" button. Currently, the service only supports translations from foreign languages into Korean and does not have the capability to translate Korean into other languages. The translation is powered by Kakao's own i Translation service, which supports 19 languages including English and Japanese. The speech bubble translation feature can be accessed in the "Lab" under the "More" tab in Kakao Talk and is only available on iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads.
Kakao Bank Donates KRW 1.2 billion to Build Financial Social Safety Net
Kakao Bank has signed a "Fintech Startup Support Business Agreement" with the Korea Fintech Support Center to establish a financial safety net and launch a 1.2 billion won support project. Kakao Bank CEO Yoon Ho-young and Chairman of the Korea Fintech Support Center Byun Young-han were present at the signing ceremony on the 1st. Kakao Bank will donate 1.2 billion won to the project and use it to support fintech startups with financial crime prevention technologies through various initiatives such as the "Fintech Growth Support Project," "Hackathon," and "Demo Day." The "Fintech Growth Support Project" will provide subsidies to selected startups in areas such as commercialization funds, operating costs, and performance presentation costs. Kakao Bank executives and employees will participate in mentoring, networking, and consulting. The "Hackathon" will be held in October to discover ideas for inclusive finance, while the "Demo Day" event will connect startups with investors. Kakao Bank will provide IR pre-consulting services to selected fintech companies to help advance their businesses and attract investment. A Kakao Bank official stated that the support for fintech startups with excellent technologies will help create a safe financial service environment and prevent financial crimes.
Kakao Mobility joins hands with Cafe 24 to provide supply chains to online small business owners
Kakao Mobility has entered into a partnership with e-commerce platform Café24 to help online small business owners increase their sales competitiveness. The partnership leverages Kakao Mobility's one-day delivery service, Today's Pickup, which uses ICT technology for logistics management, control monitoring, and route optimization, without the need for separate investment in infrastructure. This creates a win-win situation for both the small business owners and the platform workers. The two companies recently held a ceremony to mark their agreement on supporting the Direct to Consumer (D2C) ecosystem. Kakao Mobility will supply over 2 million e-commerce operators using Café24's platform, enabling them to secure sales competitiveness without relying on large distribution platforms. The delivery service, currently available only in certain areas, will be expanded to cover the entire metropolitan region. Kakao Mobility intends to extend its partnership in the future to connect with companies offering IT solutions, logistics automation facilities, fulfillment operations, and e-commerce solutions. Starting with this agreement, Kakao Mobility will support small and medium-sized e-commerce operators to enhance customer contact and sales competitiveness without additional investment, according to the Vice President of Kakao Mobility's Business Division, Ahn Kyu-jin.
